WEC Lines, a subsidiary of MSC Group, has been honoured with the 2025 Supplier Excellence Award from The Navigator Company. This prestigious award was presented to WEC Lines during the paper producer’s Supplier’s Day event in Lisbon, Portugal. The recognition reflects the strength of a successful 22-year partnership between WEC Lines and The Navigator Company.
The Supplier’s Day event welcomed more than 200 guests and featured presentations from several members of The Navigator Company’s supply chain. Among the guest speakers was WEC Lines’ CEO Caesar Luikenaar, who delivered an engaging discussion highlighting years of shared company achievements.
This included the latest developments consolidating shipments in France (the French project), underscoring the strength and momentum of their enduring business alliance. On behalf of the WEC Lines family, Caesar accepted the award alongside WEC Ibero’s representatives, Luis Antunes and Paulo Henrique.
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Rotterdam, WEC Lines has grown into a key provider of short sea and deep-sea container services. For more than 50 years, the company has created vital trade bridges connecting Northwestern Europe to Northeast Africa, the Red Sea, and Southern Europe.
WEC Lines’ broad range of offerings includes door-to-door transportation services and quay-to-quay options to simplify the process of collecting, shipping and delivering cargo of all sizes. The company prioritizes a distinctly personalized approach– forgoing automated ticketing systems, and relying instead on local representatives within a global network. To deliver customer service, WEC Lines also continues to elevate its service portfolio and expand its operational network, an effort reflected in recent service enhancements and organizational growth.

For over two decades, WEC Lines and The Navigator Company have maintained an impactful partnership grounded in shared priorities and innovative collaboration.
A recent initiative of note is ‘the French project’. Post-COVID, The Navigator Company shipments to France were disrupted by a combination of port congestion and a shortage of logistics trucks within the marketplace.
In 2024, WEC Lines subsequently opened an office in Nantes, France, and soon after added a call at the French port of Montoir. This ‘French project’, as it was known internally, gave The Navigator Company’s shipments from Portugal a new route to market and enabled the consolidation of maritime flows to Central and Northern France through WEC Lines. This modal shift from road to sea reduces overland traffic, CO2 emissions and improves logistical efficiency.
As The Navigator Company seeks to reinforce its position as a quality leader in pulp, paper, tissue and packaging solutions, the collaborative approach and WEC Lines’ dependable, forward-thinking logistical expertise are helping to drive that goal into the future.
During The Navigator Company Supplier’s Day award ceremony, Caesar Luikenaar shared his appreciation and dedication to the partnership, stating:
“We feel greatly humbled by the support and recognition from a highly valued client and we will do everything in our power to honour this award in the coming years.”
