This achievement honours WEC Lines and its sustainable ambitions measured against alignment with international sustainability standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the ISO 26000 standard and International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions.
WEC Lines Receives EcoVadis Gold Medal
In 2024, WEC Lines received an EcoVadis gold medal for its outstanding sustainability performance. EcoVadis is a leading global provider of business sustainability ratings and its gold medal reflects strong validation against international standards.
The EcoVadis ratings analyze a company’s sustainability performance and provide actionable steps for continued improvement. The company evaluates businesses across 21 sustainability indicators that address four core areas:
- Labour and Human Rights
- Environment
- Sustainable Procurement
- Ethics
EcoVadis awards medals to the top 35% of the companies it evaluates. An EcoVadis medal or badge doesn’t mean a company’s sustainability efforts are flawless. Rather, the award signals positive intent and recognizes a company’s progress in sustainable practices, while acknowledging its ongoing potential for improvement and greater impact.
An EcoVadis medal is a great achievement that benchmarks a company’s sustainability performance against thousands of businesses globally. The gold award ranks WEC Lines in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis. Commenting on the achievement, Elisa Dellebeke, the Sustainability Officer of WEC Lines, said:
