MSC UK Enables Students to Explore Shipping and Logistics at the Annual MSC Games

09.08.2026Return to Stories

In March 2026, the UK branch of MSC Group company, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), hosted students from four Suffolk sixth forms and colleges for the third annual MSC Games. Designed to raise awareness and provide first-hand insight into the world of shipping and logistics, the event combined interactive activities and workshops led by MSC teams.

The UK's economy relies heavily on maritime transport, with around 95% of imports and exports moving by sea. As a new generation enters the shipping industry, programmes like the MSC Games introduce young people to the range of apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways within the field.

Bringing the World of Shipping and Logistics to Life

The programme for the day-long MSC Games event spanned both educational workshops and scenario-based challenges. MSC team members from across Customer Service, Finance, Logistics, Marketing and Trade conducted sessions explaining how their departments collectively contribute to end-to-end supply chain operations. Alongside this, students also took part in practical tasks that tested their teamwork skills and real-time problem-solving abilities across high-tempo freight flow simulation, hazardous cargo handling and vessel planning exercises.

Dan Everitt, MSC UK’s Managing Director, closed the day with an address sharing his career journey with MSC UK. Students then took a final quiz, followed by an awards ceremony honouring the 2026 MSC Games Champion.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Industry Talent

Earlier in the year, MSC UK had signed the Power of Youth Charter, an initiative to amplify the voices of the next generation and create opportunities for young people to learn, contribute and succeed. The third annual MSC Games event puts that commitment into action, giving students a better understanding of shipping and logistics, while reinforcing MSC UK’s commitment to the communities it operates in.

Pawel Stasiak, MSC UK’s People Development Manager, said: “MSC Games is more than a one-day event; it’s a powerful bridge between our business and the local community. By opening our doors to young people, we spark curiosity, build confidence and inspire future careers, all while showcasing the heart of who we are at MSC UK, a team committed to growth, opportunity and making a meaningful difference.”

Jason Parkes added: “MSC Games showcased the students’ curiosity and ambition, as conversations quickly moved from today’s roles to the skills that will shape tomorrow’s industry. Seeing them connect technology, creativity and purpose within shipping and logistics was energising. Events like this don’t just position MSC as an employer of choice - they open doors, spark confidence and help young people see what’s possible.”

For many of the students, MSC Games marked the start of thinking seriously about a future in the industry – exactly the kind of opportunity MSC UK set out to create.
